J.D. Power rates innovation above those by National and Enterprise

Since the spring, Avis Car Rental has been steadily hyping the upgrades and improvements over its mobile app, designed to cut down on efficiency costs and boost its customer service by offering clients more options via their smartphones. And the innovations have paid off in spades.

On Wednesday, Avis announced it was named by global marketing information service J.D. Power as having the best rental car travel app for 2019, earning top marks in terms of customer satisfaction. National’s mobile app was ranked second, followed by Enterprise.

The J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Travel App Satisfaction Study had respondents favoring Avis on a number of fronts. Participants had particularly high praise for the app’s user-friendliness when it comes to navigation, interface appearance, easy-to-understand instructions and the vast array of features available at client fingertips.

One new feature that garnered attention was the Split My Bill feature, offering consumers the opportunity to pay rental fees through a combination of combination of credit and debit cards as well as with other transaction modes. Another feature, Arrive, also received a thumbs-up reaction for its speed and ease of locating, booking and pre-paying for a parking space.

Power,” said Beth Kinerk, a senior vice president with Avis. “Customer insights and feedback continue to fuel our efforts to expand the features and capabilities of the Avis app as we work to better meet our customers where they are on their journeys.” 

The announcement comes on the heels of recent third-quarter financial results reported by Avis. The findings included a significant drop in operating costs, including net transaction costs only being a third of what was reported in the third quarter of 2018.
